On the way to the Copa Libertadores 8 Mexican soccer teams compete for the remaining two places to participate in the South American tournament. The 8 teams competing in this edition are the Tecos de UAG, the Tuzos del Pachuca, the Diablos del Toluca, the Monarcas Morelia, the Rojinegros del Atlas, the Tigres de la UANL, the Águilas del América and the Chivas del Guadalajara.
The tournament began on Friday, January 2, with the duels Pachuca vs Tecos and Morelia vs Toluca.
In the first match the Tuzos of Pachuca thrashed the Tecos 4 – 0. The goals were works of the Paraguayan reinforcement Edgar “Pájaro” Benítez that debuted with a goal in the 15th minute, of the defender Marco Iván Pérez who scored the 2-0 in the 48th, of the youthful Edy Brambila that marked the 3-0 at the minute 58 and Víctor Mañón that closed the account at 89.
While in the second match Toluca and Morelia tied 1-1. Morelia scored Fernando Salazar at minute 39 and Toluca striker Sergio Santana opened as a devil player scoring at minute 47.
The next matches will be today: America vs Chivas and Tigres vs Atlas.
